Paintball Gear Protection

Paintball gear protection consists of a mask (or the headgear), paintballs, pods (or paintball containers), gloves, and the vest. Paintball gear is primarily used for protection measures. This can help the player to avoid any possible injury that they may encounter during the game.

Gear is required, especially in tournaments. The “no gear, no play” policy is always implemented. By having this policy, all players can play safely and avoid getting hurt.

Head gear or masks, including goggles, are safety devices that players are required to wear. This covers not only the eyes, but also the whole parts of the face including the mouth, ears, and nose of the playesr.

Some types of head gear are designed to cover the whole face, even including the neck. the lenses are designed to stop paintballs that are traveling under 300 feet per second. However, some lenses are not designed to withstand impacts of paintballs at higher speeds.

There are also lenses referred to as double-layered or thermal lenses. These lenses are much less prone to fogging because they have a separate inside and outside lens, with an air chamber. This provides a difference in temperature from within the inside and the outside of the mask so no condensation develops.

The external part of the thermal lenses is normally made up of polycarbonate or lexan. These materials provide impact resistance. But the disadvantages of this material is that it can be easily scratched by dirt and debris. So, users of this gear must keep it clean and use it with proper precautions. Scratched lenses must be replaced quickly before the player enters a paintball games in order to have good vision while playing.

Masks also include extra paintball gear protection accessories that can help the paintball player such as electric fans that cool the players’ faces while he or she is wearing the head gear. This is efficient for situations that require wearing head gear for extended periods of time. For example, playing wood games, any of the larger games, or being a referee.

Paintballs are made of gelatin capsules containing polyethylene glycol and dye. Unlike paintballs of the past that were made of glass and filled with indelible oil based paint, modern paintballs cause less pain during impact are can be easily washed out of most clothing.

Common paintballs are called .68 calibers. However, sometimes the sizes of the paintballs are larger than .68 caliber and can, in fact, meet or exceed .69 calibers. These paintballs are very sensitive to heat and moisture. As such, it may cause them to be useless during a paintball game. Damage to paintballs occur during hot or rainy days. This may result in paint swelling or becoming misshapen.

Vests are used by players to protect their body from the impact of the paintballs. This paintball gear protection is necessary because it covers a players body during the game. Like head gears, it is required in almost all paintball games.
